New therapy and recreation area in our Small group homes in Kazanlak

A new therapy and recreation area will be built in the backyard of our homes in Kazanlak. The area will include a gardening section and sports facilities for children and young people with physical disabilities. The area will provide a more accessible environment for the children, as well as improve the working conditions of our social workers and therapists.

The project, whose total cost is 10 000 euro, is funded by the Smurfit Kappa Foundation. With this project, we aim to create a safe and accessible environment for children and young people with severe disabilities and to encourage them to participate in a variety of therapeutic and recreational activities both indoors and outdoors. Among the equipment to be installed are hoists that allow lifting and moving people with severe disabilities, specialized swings for children with difficulties, tactile walking surfaces, gazebos and more.

“We are grateful to have found a partner who understands the needs of people with disabilities and has the ability to stand alongside us in improving the environment. Together we will improve the quality of life for the disadvantaged, but also the working conditions of our employees. We believe that the sustainability of care should be a shared priority between non-profit organizations, the state, businesses and the community.”, said Nelly Boneva – Manager of the Small group homes in Kazanlak.

By contributing to our cause, Smurfit Kappa Bulgaria Ltd, a world leader in paper and paper packaging production with a factory in Kazanlak, sets a good example of how the business can support local communities.

“One of Smurfit Kappa’s top priorities is to actively support communities in the countries where it operates. The Smurfit Kappa brand stands for creating, protecting and caring. We are happy to be able to help,” said the management of Smurfit Kappa Bulgaria Ltd.
