A nice and fulfilling 2022

On May 18, at the Hyatt Regency Sofia Hotel, we welcomed donors, volunteers and friends of the Cedar Foundation at our traditional Donor Appreciation Day. More than 60 people gathered for a cocktail reception where we presented our 2022 Annual Report, told happy stories from the lives of the children and adults in our centers, talked about what was new in the past year, and shared some of our future plans.

The guests were welcomed by our Executive Director – Alexandrina Dimitrova. She thanked the Foundation’s team of 91 people in Kyustendil, Kazanlak and Sofia for their dedication and the members of the Board of Directors for their long-term commitment.

“I would also like to thank each and every one of you for giving funds, time and expertise to help our cause. And for making our cause yours as well. Without you, none of what we have written in this report would have been possible” were Alexandrina’s words to the guests at the event. All guests received a certificate of appreciation with a child’s drawing specially created for the occasion.

The highlights of our work in the past year were the incredibly exciting summer camps, a mountain camp with laughter yoga, horse therapy, and theater at home for children with severe disabilities. Some of these activities were new and different, others we further developed and enriched thanks to fundraising campaigns and support from corporate partners and individual donors.

Guests at the event left their fingerprints on the Cedar Tree, a gesture that symbolized the imprint each of them leaves on the lives of the children and young people we care for.  In addition, they received a gift specially made for them by the young people with intellectual disabilities who attend our Centre for social rehabilitation and integration in Kyustendil.

We are grateful to our partners who helped us organize the Donor Appreciation Day and made the evening so enjoyable. These are Hyatt Regency Sofia who provided us with a hall and catering free of charge, Bratanov Winery, Devin and Pernod Ricard who provided the beverages and Petya Pekunova who captured the atmosphere and the smiles and mood of our guests.
