Anna Stoyneva, social worker, Kyustendil

Anna is one of our social workers at the Social Rehabilitation and Integration Centre. She greets us smiling and ready to tell us about herself, about her challenging and good moments at Cedar. During the conversation, it becomes clear that working with young people with different intellectual disabilities is a true vocation for her. Her most challenging tasks involve completing a large amount of paperwork, which reduces her time with the youth. She says that for her, working at the Centre has been a real challenge. And we are happy that she courageously took on this challenge and gives her all to this day.

  • What do you like most about your job?

I have always been inspired by working with people with disabilities. Their progress is the evaluation of our work. I like the way of working here and the wide range of tools at my disposal. This is a great benefit to the young people and their progress. It is more interesting for them, they don’t get bored, I have something to vary the activities with, to offer new things to keep their attention. I’m doing a comparison with my previous job which was a day centre for people with disabilities.

Also, a plus for me and my job is the training that I can attend. I haven’t had access to so many trainings before and this is very valuable to me.

This also applies to the different events that are organised because the young people are always very enthusiastic and very willing to get involved in everything. They need to have something different happening to them from their normal everyday life and what we do here together is very varied for them. They enjoy it and do everything willingly.

I find the organisation of different trips energising and motivating. I think that’s where the emotions of the young people peak. They are all very enthusiastic about visiting new places and learning new things.
