Our 19th Charity Ball “Shaping the future” raised a record 250,000 leva to support the children and young people in our care. The event, held on 9 November at the Hyatt Regency Sofia, was attended by over 180 guests, including business leaders, entrepreneurs, and socially engaged individuals, all united by our mission to create a better future and a dignified life for the most vulnerable.
The funds raised from the evening will be used to provide psychological support and specialized care for the children and youth in our residential services. They will receive individual and group therapies tailored to their specific needs so that they develop and build on their independence skills. A portion of the funding will also cover transportation for children with disabilities to school and day centres, as well as other specific needs and rehabilitation services. Looking ahead, we plan to expand our range of social services even further.
Our Executive Director, Alexandrina Dimitrova, opened the Charity Ball with a heartfelt message: “The stories of the children and young people we care for show that with the right support, even the heaviest burdens can be overcome. The Cedar Foundation team consists of 95 dedicated professionals who help them find hope and a brighter future. Our vision for the future is to not only continue to provide quality care in our family-type homes, but also to focus our efforts on supporting families of children with disabilities because we believe that the best environment for a child is within a family. All of you who stand with us are helping to improve their lives.”
A highlight of the evening was the exclusive auction featuring items donated by celebrities. The most sought-after among them was a diptych of photographs by actor and photographer Vladimir Karamazov, which was purchased for an impressive 17,000 leva. Other auction items included a T-shirt autographed by Maria Bakalova and a sports outfit worn by Bulgaria’s top alpine ski racer, Albert Popov.
The event was once again hosted by actors Kate Nichols and Alexander Alexiev, who generously volunteered their time to support the cause. Thanks to the event partners, who donated their services, products, and expertise, the event’s organizational costs were kept to a minimum, and the sponsors helped cover these expenses. This means that all funds raised will go directly to supporting the disadvantaged children and young people.
