180 participants joined the charity legion to provide physical therapy for children with physical disabilities
On July 2, 2022 in the Moshino district of Pernik, the famous sporting event Legion run took place – a 5 km run through rugged terrain with obstacles of mud, barbed wire, climbing and jumping walls. For a second year in a row the organizers of the event supported our cause by offering a charity ticket and matching the proceeds to help with one of the foundation’s projects – physiotherapy and rehabilitation for severely disabled children and youths.
Over 180 participants joined our legion this year and chose, in addition to having fun and playing sports with colleagues and friends, to support our work and with the funds raised to provide rehabilitation and physical therapy for children and youth with severe physical disabilities housed in our family-type centers.
At the start of the event there was a lot of excitement – some of the participants were worried whether they would be able to cope physically, some were bubbling with enthusiasm and sporting drive, some took the opportunity to make new acquaintances and contacts, and others hurried to take a selfie with Viktor Stoyanov – the “Bachelor” who has become very popular in recent months and who turned out to be among the legionnaires in our group.
Participants from 13 companies including Chaos, Edenred Bulgaria, Infoleven, Fantastico, Lidl Bulgaria, Zuhlke Engineering, Amusnet Interactive, ItiDo, Scale focus, Ipsos Bulgaria, Maevo, PraHS, ICloud overcame the obstacles side by side, challenged each other, laughed together and supported each other. The patience of the participants who waited their turn at the long queues in the sun, as well as the attention and care for teammates and complete strangers some of them showed were remarkable and a real inspiration.
We left muddy, wet, with scratches, but happy, satisfied and proud of the example we set for each other and of the power which is multiplied when we are united.
10,000 leva is the amount needed to provide therapeutic activities for 1 year for 20 children and young people with diagnoses such as cerebral palsy, muscular atrophy, spastic quadriparesis. Thanks to 13 companies and individual participants who purchased donation tickets and the Legion Run managers, we were able to gather 7,400 leva as well as new friends, new supporters and partners.
We look forward to the new challenges and believe that together we are a force – a force capable of changing our lives and those of the disadvantaged.
