The path to oneself and others… it is no coincidence that we chose this name for our project. Because we believe that the path to new places also becomes a path to ourselves and the people around us – to getting to know, sharing, and growing.
This summer, we organized several one-day excursions and a creative art workshop for some of our children and young people in Kazanlak, through which they had the opportunity to explore new places, immerse themselves in Bulgarian nature and culture, develop social skills, and express themselves through art.
Thanks to the funding received, they visited the natural phenomenon Kichest Gabar – a tree over 700 years old, whose grandeur impressed them, and the games in the cool forest brought them real joy. At the Aul Baga-Tour attraction, they learned about ancient Bulgarian traditions – they rode the good horse Nebeshen, shot arrows, and experienced stories from the distant past.
They also walked along the Byala Reka eco-trail near Kalofer – a challenging route with wooden bridges and steep climbs, which motivated them and gave them an unforgettable encounter with the beauty of the mountains and the richness of its wild inhabitants. At the Regional History Museum in Stara Zagora, they examined all the exhibits with interest, were impressed by the knight’s swords and costumes, and even created their own mosaics. And by the dam in the Kara Kos area, they enjoyed nature and the time spent together.
They recently experienced the last stop on this adventure – a creative art workshop where, with the help of an artist, they had the opportunity to paint freely, experiment with different techniques, and express themselves through art.
Each of the activities in the project brought them immense joy. They continue to talk excitedly about their experiences and eagerly await their next trips.
Our project “The path to oneself and others” was implemented thanks to funding from Pepco Bulgaria, as part of the PEPCOlandia program, carried out in partnership with the Foundation “Workshop for Civic Initiatives”
