The 14th Charity Ball of the Cedar Foundation raised 92 thousand leva, which will be invested in direct care for children in need

The 14th Annual Charity Ball of the Cedar Foundation – Changemakers Charity Ball was held on November 2, 2019 at the Central Military Club Sofia. During the event, 92 thousand BGN were raised, which the organization will use to provide care for over 105 disadvantaged children and youth it supports in its centers.

The event was attended by 200 guests from the business elite and cultural life in Bulgaria, including partners and long-time supporters of the organization, as well as new supporters willing to be part of the change for children and youth.

At the beginning of the event, the Executive Director of the Cedar Foundation Alexandrina Dimitrova welcomed the guests and thanked the attendees for choosing to support children in need tonight. “I told you 3 stories that make us think. We have over 100 more similar stories of real children and young people that no one wants. No one but Cedar. We are committed to providing them with round the clock care and specialist support. Our team invest a lot of effort, energy, knowledge and resources to ensure that change happens. But believe me, it’s incredibly hard. And we need your help to keep going.”

Representatives of the Charity Ball’s gold sponsors, Gail Bajski, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of America for Bulgaria Foundation and Elitsa Ivanova, Partner at CM Sofia, also addressed the guests and called on the attendees for their support.

The host of this year’s edition of the Ball was the popular Bulgarian artist and producer Stefan A. Shterev, one of the most talented opera singers in Bulgaria Edelina Kaneva took part in the evening’s program. During the event the guests also enjoyed the performances of talented jazz and bossa nova musicians with vocals by Veleka Tsankova, as well as harp by Yana Doinova.

The main part of the event’s program was the charity auction with collectibles and experiences. Hosting the auction for the third consecutive year was the professional auctioneer licensed by the British auction house Christie’s – Preslava Fentham – Fletcher. The most expensive item sold this year was a Liverpool shirt signed by all the players in the team. Among the most coveted auction items were a dining experience with a 7-course gourmet menu provided by popular chef Antoine Verest, a collectible from the iconic Star Wars saga and 2 VIP invitations to the Gala Premiere of the exclusive screening of the latest film “Rise of Skywalker”, as well as a painting by world-renowned Bulgarian artist Peter Michev.

Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in a raffle for interesting prizes, including a tasting of Dubov coffee, VIP invitations to the premiere of the Bulgarian film “Dose of Happiness”, VIP tickets to the Sofia Opera and Ballet, family brunch at Hilton Sofia, golf vouchers at Pravets Golf & Spa, tickets to Theatre of the Senses Sofia, cooking lessons, overnight stays at Sevtopolis Spa Hotel, VIP tickets to Ivan Vazov National Theatre, dinner for two at InterContinental Sofia, custom shirts from Sircrow. The raffle and auction items are kindly provided by the event partners.

All proceeds from the evening will be invested in the individual care of the children and youth that the Cedar Foundation supports.
