The Cedar Foundation would like to thank its partners—DRAG Bicycles and Velomania EOOD, as well as everyone who purchased the DRAG Hardy JR limited edition bicycle and through their purchase, supported the Foundation’s mission. Thanks to this charity campaign, which began in 2018, we were able to raise 4050 leva which will go towards the provision therapeutic care to children and youths with severe physical impairments.
As part of this campaign, 5 leva of the cost of every youth edition bicycle sold went toward the Foundation’s cause. In addition, the bike manufacturer Velomania EOOD contributed an additional 10 leva for every purchased bicycle. Thus the total donation is formed from the sale of 270 bicycles, each of which contributed 15 leva.
“We made a limited edition of the DRAG Hardy JR bike in which the manufacturer’s name is inverted. We placed it upside-down as, unfortunately, this is the way in which the lives of the children under Cedar’s care began. Nevertheless, they have the strength to carry on and develop. By purchasing a bicycle from the DRAG Hardy JR limited edition, you become a part of this journey”- a DRAG Bicycles representative shared.
As a conclusion to the charity campaign, DRAG’s team and its CEO will visit the family-type home in Kazanlak and introduce cycling to the children in the center. The Cedar Foundation and DRAG teams have planned exciting activities, which will provide the children and youths with new opportunities for professional development and relaxation.
Some of the activities involve demonstrations in assembling and disassembling a bicycle, a bike tour with everyone who knows how to ride one, a tutorial for those who have never done so and a presentation on the various professions related to cycling, the design, production and sale of bicycles.
All donors who have participated in the campaign are welcome to join the event which will take place in the spring of 2019.
We hope that in the future we would be able to enjoy even more partnerships such as this one, which would not only help us provide personalized quality care and support to the children with severe impairments but would also allow our partners to share their good example and to draw their clients into their chosen social cause.
On the need for physiotherapy
Thirteen of the children and youths who live in Cedar’s family-type homes in Kyustendil and Kazanlak suffer from severe physical impairments. Their conditions differ and are often complex and include, among others, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, spastic quadriplegia, epilepsy, muscle hypertrophy. To ensure their painless everyday lives, the opportunity for optimal mobility, socializing and regular walks in the environment, The Cedar Foundation provides regular sessions with an expert rehabilitator for each and every one of the 13 children.
The financial resource, required for providing the physiotherapeutic for the 13 children and youths amounts to 720 leva each month or 8640 leva every year.
