A charity concert in support of the Cedar Foundation’s cause was organized on the initiative of representatives of the Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra (Washington, USA) on July 4th at the Peroto Literature Club.

The concert was performed by a quintet featuring 2 violins, a viola, a forehead and an oboe. The event was attended by nearly 70 people – friends and supporters of both the Cedar Foundation and the orchestra. Guests had the pleasure of enjoying a selection from Bach to contemporary film music. The program included Canadian folklore as well as pieces by Mozart, Morricone and Zahari Gulabov Davis.

The event raised nearly BGN 2,000.Part of the amount (900 BGN) will be invested in the purchase of personalized wheelchairs for three of the children living in the family-type houses in Kazanlak, managed by the Cedar Foundation. The wheelchairs will be provided by the Romanian organization “Motivation”. The rest of the money raised will also be invested in the individual needs of children and adolescents living in the family-type houses.

The Port Angeles Orchestra is a non-profit organization founded in 1932 by several violinists and a walthorist who initially gathered to play together at home. Today the orchestra consists of over 80 musicians, all of whom volunteers. Traditionally, their annual program includes 5 concerts on a large stage, 3 chamber stage concerts as well as various educational initiatives and especially such that support and encourage young talents. This year the musicians hold their 11th International tour in support of small NGOs from different parts of the world who work with disadvantaged people.
