On November 11th, Sofia Hotel Balkan was host to Cedar Foundation’s 12th Annual Charity Ball. During the event the foundation managed to raise 83 500 BGN which will be directly invested in its Small Group Homes and Center for Social Rehabilitation and Integration in the towns of Kyustendil and Kazanlak. The cause gathered close to 200 guests – representative of the socially responsible business, diplomats and long term supporters of the foundation.

“The simple things in life, such as having a family, going to school, working, or travelling, are not so simple to achieve for some children and young adults. The 100 children and young adults in our centers in Kyustendil and Kazanlak rely on us to have these simple things in life happen to them. The Cedar team works every day to make sure that they are loved, supported, accepted, educated, valued… And I will admit to you, sometimes we question ourselves whether we can continue. The work is hard, and the resources are often insufficient. Yet, we are dedicated to our children and young adults. Please, share this dedication with us tonight.”

With these words the CEO of the Cedar Foundation Mrs. Alexandrina Dimitrova welcomed the guests of the ball and invited them to share the cause. Representatives of the gold sponsors of the event – Mrs. Nancy Schiller, President and CEO of America for Bulgaria Foundation, and Mr. David Butts, Managing Partner, CMS Sofia also shared a few words and told the guest about their long term commitment to Cedar.

The actress and film director Yana Titova and the actor Aleksandar Aleksiev, known from the famous TV series ‘’Откраднат живот“ and the recently released film adaptation of Milen Ruskov’s award winning novel “Възвишение”, were the fabulous hosts of the evening.

The music program included performances by one of the most popular Bulgarian string formations – Hypnotic, as well as a delicate piece, presented by the violin virtuoso Harry Eshkenazy. The swing quartet The Scarlett Sisters provided for a great sound and lots of dancing throughout the rest of the evening.

The pin of the program was the charity auction where items and experiences of great value were offered. The auctioneer was the Christie’s certified Preslava Fentham-Fletcher who is also the Director of Action for Russia’s Children organization. A signed Arsenal jersey, a painting by the American artist Rose Ranov, a pair of Kubrat Pulev’s boxing gloves and a balloon flight for two were among the most desired auction items.

Near the end of the event a raffle was drawn with lots of prizes including a weekend for two at the Hilton Hotel, VIP passes for Sofia International Film Festival and vouchers for fashion boutiques.

Thanks to the gold sponsors – America for Bulgaria Foundation and CMS, and the bronze sponsor – Dundee Precious Metals, all costs for the organization of the event were covered. Therefore, all the funds raised during the evening will be invested in the Cedar Foundation’s social services in Kyustendil and Kazanlak.
