PROJECTS

Kindergartens

The Cedar Foundation has good relationships with the kindergartens in and around the Kazanlak area. Mark O'Sullivan met with the directors of the kindergartens in order to discuss how The Cedar Foundation could best help the directors meet the needs of their own kindergartens.

From the discussions held with the directors The Cedar Foundation came up with the idea of inviting each kindergarten to put forward a project proposal which outlined one way in which the kindergarten proposed to meet a specific need. The Cedar Foundation successfully secured grants of 1,000 leva per project (for a total of three projects). The successful projects were creative and captured the essence of The Cedar Foundation.

2006 - twelve projects applied, three of them won:

1) "Edelvais" Kazanlak - "Theatre in the kindergarten ”

2) "Mir" Buzovgrad - "Let's play and go in for sports outside ”

3) "Zornitca" Sheinovo - "We are the children of the valley of roses"

2007 - more than fifteen projects, four of them won:

1) "Zornitca" Sheinovo - "Zoo in the kindergarten ”

2) Kindergarten in Dolno Izvorovo

3) "Mir" Buzovgrad - "Let's hug the Earth"

4) "Snezhanka" Kazanlak - "Green home for our children"

2008 - more than fifteen projects applied and the results will be announced on 15.05.2008.

This is an example of how, The Cedar Foundation enables and facilitates Bulgarians, to meet the needs of their own communities.

In order to enable kindergartens to generate funds for themselves The Cedar Foundation organised the design and printing of a children’s colouring book. The colouring books were then distributed to the kindergartens with the aim that the money made from their sale would go back to the hands of the kindergartens in order to enable them to improve their facilities and their teaching programs.
