The Minister of Labour and Social Policy Biser Petkov – impressed bythe professional approach of the employees and the purely humancare

The Minister of Labour and Social Policy Biser Petkov, the Chairperson of the State Agency for Child Protection Eleonora Lilova and the mayor of Kyustendil Peter Paunov visited the “Radiance” family-type houses in town, ran by the Cedar Foundation.
During their visit, they had the chance to get acquainted to the good practices and innovative approaches that Cedar is applying in the management of residential social services, as well as to meet part of the Foundation’s team and the young adults, settled in the houses.
“What we see here is proof that there was a great meaning in starting one particular process in Bulgaria back in 2010 – deinstitutionalization. The children that have been living here for 8 years now, have changed their way of life thanks to the type of care they are receiving, which is very close to the family one”, shared Minister Petkov.
He also expressed his impression with the professional approach of the employees, which is combined with the purely human care and warm relations. In addition to that, Biser Petkov shared that all of this is possible, thanks to the Cedar Foundation.
“They have proven that a lot of things can be achieved in the care for people with disabilities, through public-private partnership”, the Social Minister also commented.
The Chairperson of the State Agency for Child Protection Eleonora Lilova also noted that Cedar has proven that the mission is possible. According to her words, in the social services managed by the Foundation, you can see a model, which defines what the goals of the institutions should be, alongside with the local authorities and non-government organizations, when it comes to residential services in Bulgaria.
