The Cedar Foundation gives disadvantaged people in Bulgaria a better quality of care, a better quality of life.
The Cedar Foundation assists the process of replacing big, old-style, inefficient institutions for children and young adults with intellectual and physical disabilities with efficient contemporary services for alternative care in the community.
We work in partnership with national and local Bulgarian authorities, other NGOs and many volunteers to support the process of developing efficient services for people with disabilities.
In Bulgaria there are 3800 children and young adults with intellectual and physical disabilities who live in old poor-conditioned institutions isolated from the community. For most of them that means:
The Cedar Foundation functions primarily in two Bulgarian towns – Kyustendil and Kazanlak.
